Diriyah represents a turning point in the history of the Arabian Peninsula in particular and Arab and Islamic history in general, as it established stability and prosperity and united most of the region in the Arabian Peninsula under one state. Diriyah, in the heart of the Arabian Peninsula, became a destination for trade, culture, knowledge, communication and economic exchange.. Diriyah was also a center for trade and pilgrimage routes heading to various parts of the region and a vital link between Asia, Europe and Africa.. Despite the difficult desert environment, Diriyah became an oasis for a model society. This peace, prosperity, and state vision based on lofty principles and constants gave it a prominent political, economic, military, and religious position in the region, until it was transformed over time into a beacon of science and education.. Within Diriyah Governorate, there are many heritage neighborhoods, the most prominent of which are: (Al-Turaif, Ghasiba, Samhan, Al-Bujairi, Blida and Al-Awda neighborhoods )And other historical neighborhoods. Perhaps the most prominent neighborhood is Al-Turaif neighborhood, which is considered one of the most important historical landmarks of Diriyah, as it contains the most important heritage buildings, palaces, and historical monuments. It included most of the administrative buildings during the era of the first Saudi state, such as Salwa Palace, which was established in the late twelfth century AH, and from which affairs were managed. The First Saudi State, as well as the Mosque of Imam Muhammad bin Saud, the Palace of Saad bin Saud, the Palace of Nasser bin Saud, and the traditional Al-Diyafa Palace, which contains a Turaif bath. The Turaif neighborhood is surrounded by a wall. Large towers were used for surveillance and defense of the city. The Al-Turaif neighborhood site in historic Diriyah was registered on the UNESCO World Urban Heritage List on Saturday 8/19/1431 AH, corresponding to 7/31/2010 AD, after the completion of a large group of steps and projects that qualified the site to be registered on the World Heritage List..
